Bed and BreakfastOn The Green Luxury Golfing Vacation Rental located in Fairwinds, Nanoose Bay, BC is located 20 minutes north of Nanaimo on Vancouver Island and is conveniently accessed by car, boat, ferry or plane.

B.C. Ferries run regularly between the Lower Mainland (Vancouver) & Vancouver Island and carries cars and passengers.   Traveling to Vancouver Island by ferry is an absolute wonderful way to take in all the beautiful scenery our West Coast has to offer.

If your starting point is from downtown Vancouver or points North, take the ferry  from  Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay (Nanaimo).  Once off ferry follow Hwy # 19A to Northfields Road and make a Left.  Follow Northfields to Hwy #19 and go right - North.  Follow along until you come to the Petro Canada gas station at North West Bay Road  & turn right here.  (From here see directions at bottom of page) The travel time on the ferry is 1-l/2 hours followed by a 30 minute drive up island to our B&B at Fairwinds. 

If you starting point is south of Vancouver, take the Tsawwassen ferry to Duke Point (Nanaimo). Once off ferry, follow the signs that say Campbell River, Nanaimo staying to your right all the way.  This is Hwy # 19.  (Hwy 19A is the city route and Hwy # 19 is the by-pass that missess all the lights and traffic through city).  Hwy # 19A still gets you here but it is the long way to come.   The travel time on the ferry is 2 hours followed by a 35 minute drive to B&B.

Reservations are highly recommended in the peak months of summer travel, especially from the Horseshoe Bay to Departure Bay terminal.   
Go to the B.C. Ferries website and you can select your sailing, and make reservations right on line.

ONCE OFF FERRY (either Departure Bay or Duke Point terminals) – DIRECTIONS TO "ON THE GREEN VACATION RENTAL" in Nanoose Bay BC Vancouver Island in Fairwinds

If you are coming from  Victoria and this is your traveling point, it will be approximately a 2 hour drive on the Victoria - Nanaimo portion of the Island Highway, first on Highway # l, then continuing on Highway # 19.

From all points south or east (Nanaimo, Victoria) exit Highway # 19 at the Nanoose Bay traffic light & turn right at Northwest Bay Road at  (Petro Canada service station) 

From all points north or west (Comox, Port Alberni, Parksville, Qualicum etc) exit Highway # 19 by turning left at Northwest Bay road at  traffic light (at the Petro Canada Service Station).

From Toronto/Sask/Alberta/Manitoba -   There are direct flights from Alberta to Comox Airport - 55 minute plane ride from Calgary.  Once at the Comox airport the drive is less than 60 minutes to Bed & Breakfast On The Green.  Great way to avoid the Vancouver airport and the ferry traffic.  Head south on Highway # 19 past Qualicum & Parksville.  Turn left at Petro Canada onto Northwest Bay Road.

 Follow Northwest Bay Road for 1 km to Powder Point Road.   (You will see the B&B sign with our name -Bed and Breakfast On The Green and an arrow pointing right).   Turn right and travel 5 kms to the sign that says” Fairwinds Community & Resort” (this is where Powder Point Road turns into Fairwinds Drive). Keep driving past this sign, staying on Fairwinds Drive.  Keep going past Fairwinds Community Centre (swimming pool fitness centre) on your left.  Second street on left is Collingwood Drive.  Just before Collingwood Drive on the right side of Fairwinds Drive you will see our B&B sign with arrow pointing towards Collingwood Drive.  (Please note:  The drive down Powder Road which becomes Fairwinds Drive is very dark at night.  Please turn your high beams on as there is often deer along this stretch of road.  Please drive with caution)

Turn left on Collingwood Drive.  Our house is about half way down on right side # 3557.   Look for the “Bed and Breakfast On The Green” sign at front of house. You will see the golf course on your right side.
